Phrasal Verb:  to work out  ​

You will use "work out" much more than you will "workout" unless you work at a gym or go to one a lot.  
  • ​​calculate, solve a problem​
  • ​to exercise
  • ​The verb is used more often than the noun.

Noun/Adjective: workout

Use as a Subject or Adjective describing something, "I workout at the gym 3 times a week."
  • When you exercise at the gym,that is a workout.
  • This is the least used of the two.
