EFP: comparison - as adjective as
UPDATED: 17 JAN 2020
GRAMMAR
Comparison

As - Adj - As

Used with adjectives of one or more syllables.

PROBLEM:

  • Speakers don't use this grammar because they don't really understand it, which is normal.

  • Using "adjectives" is easy to understand; however, when you use comparison with other parts of speech it can become difficult.  Don't worry.   Just start with "adjectives"  then move on to other comparisons.  Don't get bogged down in the "grammar".

  • Check the Grammar Button below.  Goes to a good site that explains the comparison in "detail".

EXAMPLES:

  1. He is as tall as me.

  2. She works as hard as John.

  3. Apples aren't as expensive as oranges.   Apples are cheaper than oranges.

  4. This laptop is as fast as that one.

  5. This car cost as much as that one.  <- adverb

  6. Trump doesn't speak English as well as Winston Churchill did.

  7. My English teacher is as crazy as my Spanish teacher.

  8. He has as many problems as I do.  <- noun
