Still or Yet

Still ​

  • still is usually used in the positive
​
  • still comes after the verb "to be" and before "action verbs" 

Yet

  • yet is usually used in the negative

  • yet can be used as "on the other hand"
    ​
  • yet is used mostly in the Present Perfect

EXAMPLES:  STILL


  1. She still lives in Boston.

  2. Are you still going to go to Rio next week?

  3. Do you still have a headache.   Yeah!

  4. Will you still be here when I get back?   Sure, I'll be here.

  5. He has studied very hard, but he is still not the best student in the class.

EXAMPLES:  YET


  1. I haven't finished the research paper yet, but I should finish it by tomorrow.

  2. I have yet to finish the research paper, but I should finish it by tomorrow.

  3. Have you fixed my computer yet?   

  4. Maria has an accent when she speaks English.  Yet, when she sings, she doesn't have an accent.
