THE PROBLEM:

  • Using "lose" when you should use "miss".
    ​
  • "lose"  is an irregular verb.  No "ed" !!!   

    Where did you lose your keys?

    At the supermarket.

THINK:  feelings, time, schedule, event, people.  Also erros on a test.

  1. She missed her flight to New York and arrived a day late for the conference.  CORRECT

  2. He missed the party because he was sick.

  3. I miss my Brother a lot.

  4. If we miss the train, we will have to stay another night here in Bangkok.

  5. You are missing your front teeth!  

  6. I missed the first two questions on the quiz.

THINK:  things, something you had, but don't have now.  Also in sports.

  1. I lost my flight to NYC.   INCORRECT

  2. He lost a lot patients when he moved to the new hospital.

  3. Do you think you will win or lose money in Las Vegas?

  4. She lost her purse on the flight from Las Vegas to Miami.

  5. I think I might lose my job because of the recession.

  6. Brazil lost the World Cup.

  7. Real Madrid lost their game last night.
